Saddam's Execution "within days"
UPDATE: Saddam Hussein is apparently in the process of being transferred from U.S. custody to Iraqi custody, making it more likely that the execution is immenet...U.S. officials tell Off The Record that Saddam Hussein's lawyer has been asked to gather Saddam's personal items, but were unclear on if he had already been transferred to Iraqi Custody..
According to several U.S. officials, the U.S. is preparing (not that the U.S. is carrying out the hangings, but preparing for what comes after) for an imminent execution of the Iraqi Dictator, Saddam Hussein. While officials are saying that the government wants it done before a Muslim Holiday which begins Sunday, it could come "within hours". Click here and here for more information.

Ethiopia bombs Somalian Airport..
Update: Ethiopia has seemingly crushed the Islamic Extremists, who are said to be "in full retreat" and most of them are/were foreginers. Over 1,000 of the Islamic fighters were killed in Ethiopia's agressive campaign aganist them. However, it is speculated that even if Ethiopia crushed the group in this war, it would probably just result in peace talks between the official government and the Islamic group.
After denying for months they even had combat troops inside the borders of Somalia, Ethiopia has now come into a state of open war with Islamic Extremists who effectively control Somalia. Ethiopia has a large majority of Christians, whereas its neighbor Somalia is almost purely Islamic. Islamic Extremists have been successfully wresting control of city after city from Somalia's extremely weak, ineffective internationally recognized government, which is now holed up in one small city in the entire country, the rest being controlled by the Islamist, including the Capitol of Somalia, Mogadishu. Somalia's main airport, which recently reopened in Mogadishu, was bombed by Ethiopia's Russian made fighter jets. Another airport close by was also hit by the fighter jets.

U.S. Iraq Death's Exceed 9/11 Deaths..
According to the AP, the death toll count of U.S. forces in Iraq have now officially exceeded the death toll of the 9/11 attacks, by one person as of today. Yesterday, the Pentagon announced the deaths of two soldiers in an attack, apparently pushing the death toll over this symbolic milestone. Click here to read the story.
Iran to Announce Major Enrichment Feat
According to an Iranian MP talking to the Jerusalem Post,
"Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki reportedly told members of the Iranian parliament on Tuesday that Iran would soon announce that it had managed to enrich uranium using 3,000 centrifuges,"in which would go along with Iran's announcement earlier this year they planned to install 3,000 centrifuges. Just to show how far away Iran really is from achieving enough centrifuges to produce fuel for a nuclear reactor, it would take around 54,000 centrifuges. This announcement, if it does indeed come from Iran as anticipated, will invariably be touted by the Untied States as total defiance by Iran and may just bring us another step closer to war. Iran's Oil Exports: Gone by 2015?
In what I consider a blockbuster article from the AP, it claims that poor state planning, a withering economy, and hostility to foreign investment to finding new/better oil supplies has put that country on a track to its oil revenues/exports to grind to a halt by 2015, also stating that if the United States could hold off just a few more years, you may see a lot of Iran wanting to sit down, talk, and become a partner in the world, however, it also states that bombing the country would unite the people against us. Saddam's Execution to happen within 30 days
Iraq's highest court has handed down its verdict on Saddam Hussein's appeal: Hang him within 30 days of tomorrow...the high court also upheld the death penalty convictions of two others, but sent the former Iraqi Vice President's case back to the Iraqi Tribunal because they felt life in prison was too light of a sentence and basically told them, we want him hanged. Iranians detained by U.S. in Iraq..
According to this New York Times Article,
"The United States is now holding, apparently for the first time, Iranians who it suspects of planning attacks. One senior administration official said, 'This is going to be a tense but clarifying moment.' "This detention has actually led to tension between the U.S. and the Iraqi Government, as at least two of the men were in Iraq on the personal invitation of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. This raid and subsequent detention has highlighted they ongoing diplomatic war between the United States and Iran. This raid is being hailed by certain sectors of the U.S. Government as clear proof that Iran his playing a heavy hand in the chaos that is Iraq.
